REFUSE DEFEAT

A Resource for Young-Onset Parkinson's Disease

**Updates to the site have been delayed due to unexpected health problems (unrelated to PD). The site is expected to return to normal updates by the middle of June. Thank you**

In other words, if a link isn't there yet or an article isn't yet written, it will be soon. Thanks!

The purpose of Refuse Defeat is two-fold. The first purpose of this site is to promote awareness of Young-Onset Parkinson's Disease. My hope is that doctors, patients, and the general public will realize that there are many out there who are ignored, misdiagnosed, or are otherwise forgotten. That they will come to understand that there is much, much more to this disease than the shaking.

The second purpose of this site is to provide support for those "suffering" with this progressive, neurological condition, and to aid "People with Parkinson's" (PWPs) in their daily lives. That means that while I long for a cure, I believe the real focus should be first to make everyday life better, and then work on the cure. This means information to make better decisions regarding care and finances, financial or other help for those who need it, as well as providing the knowledge to patients and caregivers that they are not alone in this battle.

These purposes will be met by the articles on the website, by interviews with PWPs and their caregivers (and hopefully doctors), by reviews of published books and articles, and by a listing of links and support groups available. Information will also be provided on how anyone can help Parkinson's Disease Research.

You are not alone!
